The FIRST & LAST
The Scriptures reveal that YHWH repeatedly refers to Himself as the FIRST & the LAST.
Isaiah 41:4
Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning?
I YHWH, the FIRST, and with the LAST; I am He.
Isaiah 44:6
Thus saith YHWH the King of Israel,and his redeemer YHWH Tzb'ot;
I am the FIRST, and I am the LAST;
and beside me there is no Elohim.
Isaiah 48:12-13
Hearken unto me, O Ya'acob and Israel, my called;
I am He; I am the FIRST, I also am the LAST.
Mine HAND also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my Right HAND hath spanned the Heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.
The above are passages in which YHWH is clearly identifying Himself as being the FIRST & the LAST. The Isaiah 48:12-13 passage is exciting in that not only does YHWH clearly refer to Himself as the FIRST & the LAST, He also indicates that it was His HAND & His Right HAND that laid the foundation of the earth, & that spanned the Heavens! As mentioned previously, references to the HAND or ARM of YHWH are references to the physical manifestation of YHWH in this world, YAHUSHA.
The book of Revelation clearly indicates that YAHUSHA is also the FIRST & the LAST!
Revelation 1:11-13
I was in the Spirit on the Day of YHWH, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Aleph & the Taw, the FIRST and the LAST: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
Revelation 1:17-18
And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. And He laid His right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the FIRST and the LAST: -- I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
In these passages, YAHUSHA is also clearly identifying Himself as the FIRST & the LAST. He also identifies Himself as the Aleph & the Taw, the beginning & the end. This indicates that YAHUSHA was also speaking in Revelation 1:8.
Revelation 1:8
I am Aleph & the Taw, the beginning and the ending, saith Adon(YHWH), which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Some have argued that since the voice in Revelation 1:8 identifies Himself as the Almighty, that this could not be YAHUSHA. However, that is clearly an incorrect conclusion. YAHUSHA very clearly told His Disciples that He is Almighty in the following verse...
Matthew 28:18-20
And YAHUSHA came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations... Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
In Matthew 28:18, YAHUSHA clearly states that All Power in Heaven & on Earth belongs to Him. That would clearly make Him All Powerful, or Almighty as well. Nevertheless both YHWH & YAHUSHA identify themselves as the FIRST & the LAST, again indicating that YAHUSHA is the physical embodiment of YHWH in this world.
