The GOOD SHEPHERD
The Scriptures reveal that YHWH referred to Himself & is referred to as a Shepherd.
Psalm 23:1-4
YHWH is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His Name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me;Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Psalm 80:1
Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, Thou that leadest Joseph like a flock;
Thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.
Jeremiah 31:10
Hear the WORD of YHWH, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say,
He that scattered Israel will gather him,and keep him, as a Shepherd doth his flock.
Ezekiel 34:12-16, 30-31
As a Shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out My sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country. I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel. I will feed My flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Adonai YHWH. I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment...
Thus shall they know that I YHWH their Elohim am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are My people, saith Adonai YHWH. And ye My flock, the flock of My pasture, are men, and I am your Elohim, saith Adonai YHWH.
Isaiah 40:10-11
Behold, Adonai YHWH will come with Strong HAND,
and His ARM shall rule for Him:
behold, His reward is with Him,
and His work before Him.
He shall feed His flock like a Shepherd:
He shall gather the lambs with His arm,
and carry them in His bosom,
and shall gently lead those that are with young.
In the last passage above from Isaiah 40:10-11, it could immediately be seen that the passage is referring to YAHUSHA, since it refers to the Strong HAND & ARM of YHWH. As previously described in chapter 4, YAHUSHA is often referred to in the Hebrew Scriptures as the Strong HAND or the Mighty ARM of YHWH who brought the children of Israel out of slavery in Egypt. YAHUSHA Himself tells us that He is the Good Shepherd.
John 10:11-16
I am the Good Shepherd: the Good Shepherd giveth His life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. -- The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the Good Shepherd, and know My sheep, and am known of Mine. As the Father knoweth Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear My voice; and there shall be one fold, and one Shepherd.
YHWH is the Shepherd of Israel. Similarly, YAHUSHA is the Good Shepherd who layed down His Life for His sheep. YAHUSHA told us that there would be one flock & One Shepherd. Again the exclusive attributes of YHWH belong to YAHUSHA simultaneously, because YAHUSHA is the physical embodiment of YHWH in this material world.
