Was Pharisee Paul Supposed to Baptize?
1 Co 1:17 …For Christ sent me not to baptize but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect…
Paul the pharisee claims that our Savior sent him to preach the gospel, but not to baptize. Paul the pharisee also makes the point that he had to be very careful not to preach with wisdom of words, to avoid making the crucifixion of our Savior “of none effect.” Paul the pharisee wants us to believe that he had to take special care not to preach with the great wisdom he possessed, in order to avoid making the crucifixion of our Savior of “none effect”!
Can the sacrifice our Savior made on our behalf be made “of none effect” by anything anyone says?? Isn’t Paul’s suggestion both ridiculous & deeply offensive? Doesn’t 1 Co 1:17 give the reader the impression that Paul the pharisee was rather full of himself?
Paul apparently placed his preaching at a higher priority than baptizing. What did YAHUSHA say about baptism?
John 3:3-5
YAHUSHA answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? YAHUSHA answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God...
In John 3:3-5, YAHUSHA indicates that baptism with water & Spirit is much more important than Paul’s preaching. After our Savior’s Resurrection, He met with His Apostles & gave them some specific instructions regarding baptism...
Matthew 28:16-20
Then the 11 disciples went away into Galilee into a mountain where YAHUSHA had appointed them… And YAHUSHA came & spake unto them saying, All power is given unto Me in Heaven & in earth. Go ye therefore & teach all nations, baptizing them… teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.
Adonai YAHUSHA clearly instructed all of His real Apostles to teach and to baptize. Paul the pharisee simply was not with the program!! If he actually were one of YAHUSHA’s Twelve Apostles, how could pharisee Paul have been so wrong about what he was supposed to be doing as an Apostle?
Paul the pharisee is correct that he was never instructed to preach the Gospel and to baptize. This would also indicate that Paul was not one of the the Messiah’s Apostles, since the Messiah clearly instructed his real Apostles to teach the Gospel & to baptize. Wasn’t pharisee Paul confused about what an Apostle is supposed to do, because he wasn’t actually an Apostle after all, despite his numerous claims of being an Apostle? Aren’t his repeated claims of being an Apostle perfect examples of the dishonesty he repeatedly acknowledged in 2 Co 12:16 & Romans 3:7?
Passages referred to in Above Text
Romans 3:7
For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my LIE unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?
2 Corinthians 12:16
But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with GUILE.
